Former Rice athletic director Christopher Del Conte will be the new athletics director for TCU, the chancellor's office confirmed this afternoon.

A press conference announcing the appointment of the new director to replace Danny Morrison will be at 3 p.m. today in the Dutch Meyer Athletic Complex and Abe Martin Academic Enhancement Center, the office confirmed.

Del Conte has been the athletic director at Rice since June 2006 and was previously a senior associate athletics director for external operations and sports programs for the University of Arizona in Tucson, the office confirmed.

According to a press release sent out by the university today Del Conte designed, developed and managed the Rice Vision for the Second Century Campaign, which has raised over $90 million to date. He also secured funds to build athletic facilities such as the Tudor Fieldhouse and Youngkin Center for Student Athlete Excellence, as well as raised $4 million for upgrades to the football stadium.
