One of the best things about baseball is that it is a long season.

If you go 0-4 one day, you get the chance to come back out tomorrow and get another crack at it. So basically what I'm saying is don't freak out just yet and start blowing up your roster.

I have seen leagues where studs like Reds' second baseman Brandon Phillips and Brewers' outfielder Ryan Braun are getting cut. Don't be that dumb. Hang on to your best players because despite their slow start, these guys will still put up monster numbers as the season goes on.

Injuries are part of the game and no matter what, someone on your team is going to go down. You just hope they won't be on the shelf long and you can find good players to fill their void.

That's where I come in.

If you were unfortunate enough to have star pitchers like Diamondbacks' starting pitcher Brandon Webb and Red Sox's starting pitcher Daisuke Matsuzaka you might be regretting those picks right now as they will both be out for another two weeks or so.

But the pitcher I would look to pick up right now to fill in for a couple weeks is Royals' starting pitcher Kyle Davies. I like the Royals this season. They are probably another year or two from the playoffs, but they will be out of the AL Central cellar mostly because of their depth at starting pitching. Davies has a 2.89 ERA and a 1.13 WHIP after 18.2 innings pitched and he is available in 61.4 percent of leagues.

Another option for your rotation is Pirates' starting pitcher Paul Maholm. He has a 2.02 ERA, a 1.09 WHIP and already has earned three wins in this young season. I don't buy Maholm and the Pirates as much as I buy Davies and the Royals, but ride the Pirates good luck while they still have it.

Alright guys, good luck this season and have a great summer. I know it's tough to keep up with, but try to check on your fantasy leagues once a week to keep the leagues fun and competitive.
