An eighth-inning three run homer by Chris Ellington capped off a five-run, four hit eighth inning in the Horned Frogs' decisive 10-2 victory over the Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks on Tuesday at Lupton Stadium.

Senior Hunt Woodruff ignited the eighth-inning fire with a pinch-hit triple. The inning also featured a single by Brance Rivera and a Matt Carpenter double and a wild pitch before the Ellington blast.

TCU scored two runs in the third precipitated by a walk and an error that would give the team the lead for good

Despite nine hits and scoring in five of eight at bats, head coach Jim Schlossnagle said his offense lacked scoring chances and didn't take advantage of the ones it had, especially in the first inning when the team left the bases loaded after scoring one run.

The Horned Frogs stranded seven runners for the game but also benefited from three Lumberjack errors.

"We didn't have many opportunities and didn't swing the bat very well," Schlossnagle said.

Sophomore Greg Holle recorded his third win of the season, pitching five innings and allowing just one run on seven hits and two walks.

Holle said he was ahead in the count enough but made some bad pitches and didn't always hit his spots. Holle and Schlossnagle both acknowledged Paul Gerrish's role in the win, striking out five and allowing one hit in three innings of relief.

With the victory, TCU improved to 14-6 on the season while the Lumberjacks fell to 7-14.

The Horned Frogs will be in action on the road tonight in Waco against Baylor. The Bears topped TCU 2-1 in Fort Worth earlier this month.
