The No. 34-ranked men's tennis team will pack its bags and head to Norman to face the University of Oklahoma on Saturday.

Dave Borelli, the team's head coach, said the Sooners retooled this year and are probably better than they were last season.

"Even though they are only No. 73, I actually think they are a top-30 team," he said.

Borelli said he doesn't care as much about rankings as he does a team's overall performance.

"Success comes when things are simple and if you're doing the simple things well, you're going to win a lot of matches," he said.

The Horned Frogs look to regain their footing after dropping a match against the No. 2-ranked University of Texas at Austin almost two weeks ago.

Borelli said the team's schedule is brutal, but playing top-20 teams will help the Horned Frogs rise to the top.

In the next couple of weeks, the team will challenge four top-20 ranked teams in Texas A&M University, the University of Tulsa, Oklahoma State University and the University of Mississippi.

Kriegler Brink, a senior and the No. 97 singles player in the country, said the score against Texas was short of inspiring but that the team gave the Longhorns a tough go in many of the matches.

"If we can keep up the good performance in the matches this week, it will be to our benefit," Brink said.

The most important thing in a match is to remember what you are there for and above all, keep fighting, Brink said.

After returning home from Oklahoma, the tennis team will host Texas A&M on Feb. 18 at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center.
