Hot off the heels of a fall campaign that yielded four top-four finishes and two tournament titles, the TCU men's golf team hit the greens again Wednesday at the University of Hawaii Hilo Intercollegiate Tournament. The tournament kicks off a promising spring regular season that will end in April at the Texas A&M Classic and postseason play at the Mountain West Conference Championships in Tucson, Ariz.

Other tournaments on the spring schedule include the University of North Florida Invitational in Jacksonville, Fla. and the Arizona State University Thunderbird Invitational in Tempe, Ariz.

With six conference coach of the year titles and seven conference championships under his belt, Bill Montigel will be entering his 21st season as head coach of the team. He'll lead the 13th-ranked TCU team into Division I play.

Joe Monaco, assistant director of athletic media relations, said team members could not be interviewed at the tournament because interviews must be conducted in person.

Junior Travis Woolf is ranked 17th in the Mountain West Conference. Last fall, Woolf was selected by Montigel to receive the Ben Hogan/Colonial Scholarship for his performance that often saw him ending up in the top 20.

Freshman Johan de Beer will be taking to the course after an impressive fall campaign where he was named Mountain West Conference Co-Golfer of the Month for October.

Next season will see the debut of two world-ranked Swedish golfers, Pontus Gad and Daniel Jennevret, who both led Sweden to a gold-medal finish at the European Boys Team Championships.
