The spotlight will be on Fort Worth Mayor Mike Moncrief on Saturday at a book signing at the TCU Barnes and Noble Bookstore.

Allan Saxe, an associate professor of political science at the University of Texas at Arlington, is the author of the book, "Decades of Caring: A Chronicle of the Political Life of Mike Moncrief."

Taylor Witt, event coordinator for the campus bookstore, said Saxe will also be signing books but wants the attention to be on Moncrief.

The signing will begin at 10 a.m. and last until noon in the cafe section on the first floor.

Former Forth Worth mayors Bob Bolen and Kenneth Barr will also be in attendance to sign books.

Mike Moncrief is the 43rd mayor of Fort Worth and is currently serving his third term. Moncrief has also served for two years as a Texas House Representative (1971-1972), 12 years as Tarrant County judge (1974-1986) and 12 years as a Texas State senator (1991-2003).

Kenneth Barr, a TCU alumnus, preceded Moncrief as the mayor of Fort Worth from 1996-2003.

Bob Bolen served as mayor of Fort Worth from 1982-1991. Bolen currently serves as senior adviser to Chancellor Victor Boschini.

The event is open to the public and guests attending will be able to purchase a copy of the book for a special-event price of $25. The book retails for $35. Guests who already own a copy of the book will be able to get the book signed free of charge.

The book is the result of Saxe asking eight of his students to research Moncrief in order to better understand the science of politics. The book is broken down into four sections, which are each co-written by two of the students.

For more information about the event, call the TCU Bookstore at (817) 257-7844.
