Some students will be going clubbing over Fall Break. But they won't be going dancing, they will be playing for their club sports teams.

Two TCU club teams - ice hockey and men's soccer - are scheduled to be in action this weekend, all in the midst of Fall Break. However the club tennis team opted out of a tournament because of the break.

Matt Benvenuti, a junior from Newport Beach, Calif., said he isn't too distraught to be playing club ice hockey over Fall Break.

"It's not too much of a problem because I was staying in the area anyway," Benvenuti said. "It's also better that we're playing because I might be a little bored with everyone else [on break]."

Benvenuti is especially looking forward to this weekend's games because they are the first of the season.

"I am looking forward to getting back on the rink," Benvenuti said. "I am glad to start the season."

Benvenuti said he hopes people staying in town will come out and watch the hockey team.

Greg Repasky, a junior from Longview, said he's looking forward to his game with the men's club soccer team over the break.

"I wasn't actually planning on doing anything during my Fall Break except staying here and doing homework," Repasky said. "It's actually getting me out of my house."

Repasky said the team is winless, and he hopes the game over break the streak.

"Hopefully we will win," Repasky said. "I think it's a conference game, so a win would be nice."

While the club ice hockey and men's soccer teams will be playing this weekend, the club tennis team has pulled out of its weekend tournament at Lee LeClear Tennis Center in Houston.

Megan Dewar, president of the club tennis team, said some people canceled the trip about a month ago because of the break.

"Everyone is either going home or going to visit friends," Dewar said.

Dewar said there is usually a tournament during Fall Break, but TCU has always opted out due to a lack of participants.

"I am not bummed because we have lots of tournaments coming up, but it's sad we can't go," Dewar said.
