A former football player charged with sexual assault was issued bail after being in custody in the Tarrant County Jail for about 300 days.
Lorenzo Labell Jones, 20, Shannon Behling, 20, and Virgil Allen Taylor, 19, were arrested Oct. 20 on sexual assault charges for an assault of a freshman student police say took place in a Moncrief Hall dorm room, according to court documents.
Behling and Taylor each posted $25,000 bail bonds after their arrests but have not yet been assigned a court date, said Jerry Rucker, Tarrant County Records Division manager.
Jones then jumped bail and was arrested Nov. 10 for bail-jumping, Rucker said.
State District Judge Wayne Salvant reinstated bail for Jones on Thursday: $25,000 on the sexual assault charge and $5,000 on the bail-jumping charge, according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.
Jones was not issued bail before last week because he violated probation, Rucker said.
Even if Jones posts the $5,000 bond for the bail-jumping charge, he cannot leave because there is a hold on the assault charge, Rucker said.
Don Mills, vice chancellor for student affairs, was unable Tuesday to confirm if the students have been expelled from TCU, but their contact information was not found in the university directory.
Mills said in October that faculty and staff would listen to evidence about the incident and reach an agreement about what actions should be taken.
He had said the recommendation from the disciplinary hearing committee to the university would likely include expulsion.
