Style comes to TCU when the Black Student Association sponsors a spring fashion show that will give students a chance to keep up with the newest fashions.

Tiffany Willis, a sophomore psychology and education of exceptional children major and social interaction chairperson for BSA, said the show is the biggest event BSA has had this year. It is a mixture of a fundraiser and an opportunity for BSA to get the attention of the campus, as it is a new organization, Willis said.

Although BSA is an organization targeted to black students, BSA members stress the fact that the organization chose a fashion show because it would appeal to everyone on campus, Willis said.

"We wanted to have an event that included everyone on campus, all races and all cultures. So we decided fashion is something that attracts all people from different backgrounds. This way we would have diversity in our models as well as in the audience," Willis said.

The event will feature students modeling spring fashions from various clothing stores including Banana Republic, Windsor, Cache, Banana Republic, Just Add Water, Eye Candy and Men's Warehouse.

Portia Washington, a junior marketing major and secretary of BSA, said the organization's goal is to unify black students in the TCU community toward common goals and objectives, increase the recruitment and graduation rate of those students and create a positive campus presence for black students.

This semester, her major duty has been to organize and plan the fashion show.

Carla Madison, a sophomore fashion merchandising major and model in the show, said she is excited to participate in the event. Madison said she has been looking forward to the show because modeling is one of her favorite pastimes and she will have the opportunity to show students the new spring fashions.

In addition to the fashion show Willis said there will be door prizes including dinner gift certificates and a DKNY purse.

"This is going to be a great event, Willis said. "Our models have been practicing very hard and with a lot of energy and they are ready to strut their stuff".
