The Interfraternity Council's move to approve the addition of an extra day to the rush process to give potential members more time to review fraternities should be applauded. Joining a fraternity is not a decision that should be taken lightly. Men who choose to go Greek are making a significant commitment, and they should make sure that the fraternity they pick is compatible with their interests and values.

Many students never understood the excuse, "I just don't have time to workout," until they got to college. It used to sound like a pathetic justification to avoid the gym. But the reality of it is that between academic obligations, social outings and personal time, college students do not find it easy to squeeze an ample workout into their schedules.

Folks, we've reached the end of the longest economic contraction since World War II: U.S. GDP expanded at an annual rate of 3.5 percent in the quarter that ended in September. For the first time in four fiscal quarters (six if you consider the GDP expansion in the second quarter of 2008 to be a blip), U.S. GDP is expanding, home sales are up, stocks are up and Wall Street is celebrating now that, by general definition, the recession is over.
